A lesson from cannibals...

The latest news to hit the headlines of major newspapers was about a cannibal couple who practiced cannibalism for 19 years. Cannibalism is defined as a specie consuming all the parts of another individual of the same specie. Cannibalism in humans is not something new. There is evidence that it happened even 600,000 years ago. Even though it never occurred to me, the witch in "Hansel and Gretel" is also a cannibal. So is there really anything we can learn from cannibals? FYI I am not a cannibal...
So after arresting this couple it was discovered that they are mentally very healthy. I was talking with my sister about this news and when it came to this part she suddenly asked me, If they are eating people how can they be mentally healthy.. Without even wondering words slipped out of my mouth.. "It's coz they see humans as just another animal for them to eat. " Her eyes widened and she looked at me like I'm one of them.. Hahaha... Her face at that moment still makes me laugh.

My question is that why always humans are superior? When we kill another human, law punishes us, but people kill thousands of animals without even giving a second thought. Why a difference? In both scenarios it's lives that are loosing. Why a different value? One can say the base of civilizing, societies etc will get destroyed if we stop punishing for killing people. It's true that law is what stops people from violating ethics. What I'm saying is not to stop punishing, but to value everyone's right to live. Even though they are animals, they still love to live. I have never seen a single animal who is willing to die to be in a dinner table. The disgust we feel when we see a toasted human is not there when we see toasted chicken. Isn't it the bitter truth? Few weeks before I went to the tissue bank and saw parts of humans stored in fridges. (It's identical to the fridges in supermarkets containing all kinds of meat.) I almost vomited when the person who was teaching us gave me a " human knee" to have a better look and that moment I wondered that I don't feel the same when I look at chicken in the supermarket fridge. The reason is we feel superior as humans and we don't care about any other specie on this earth. We are the damn super specie with intelligence that drives the whole world into chaos. Just because we are a bit smarter than other species doesn't give us the right to take another ones life without hesitance. The day we humans understand this, the world will be a lot better place to live...  Thank you !!!

  1. Regarding your post about cannibals - Thank You. This is what vegetarians and vegans have been trying to explain to others for so many years, and most of them think we're crazy.
Most people think we must have the amino acids our body uses in proportions as close as possible to human tissue, and say therefore we need flesh meat. But by that logic, ONLY cannibals are doing that correctly. Is that idea disgusting and horrible? Yes, of course it is!
      There are alternatives.
I have been a vegetarian for more than half a century, since I was a teenager. And I left off dairy about 30 years ago. These things have only helped my health. I am a 65-year-old American, and unlike most of my fellow Americans, I have no heart or vascular system problems, no overly-high blood pressure, I take no medications. I am healthier than many people living near me who are half my age.
So to be compassionate in not eating dead flesh of animals, and practicing what the Hindu and Jain call Ahimsa, however imperfect my efforts might be, has been a blessing to me as well as to the animals.
Again, Thank You for seeing this and for saying it.

    1. Thank you sir for spending time to read my post and comment. I personally think that veganism and vegetarianism should be promoted more and more. You being healthy is one the best examples for the advantages of being a vegan. I'm still in my 20s and became a vegetarian after my cat died coz I understood the pain of loosing someone. I didn't want to be someone who kills another ones loved one for dinner.. again thank you so much for reading my blog and hope the future will be a better place for all of us up live..

How to survive A/Ls in 3 months...

Today is the first of May and there are exactly three months until GCE A/L exams begin. I intend to help people who has realized this and started panicking and feeling lost, but not only A/L students but also any student with any upcoming exam can use these tips to ace your exam. I will first explain why most of us usually wait until the day before deadline to do stuff. It's explained by Parkinson's law which states that " Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". What it means is, if we are given a week to finish a task we will finish it within the week and if we are given an year to finish the same task we will spend the whole year doing it. Well that's how usually us, lazy humans work. Now that you know what happened there is no time to regret about how we procrastinated on unnecessary things etc. Now it's time to damage control. I will not gurantee you will get 3As by following these. (It's possible depending on

The Alfred House

As a person who lived in Colombo 03 and a student of the University of Colombo, I often came across Alfred House Gardens, Alfred House Road, Alfred House Avenue, Alfred Place signboards and wondered what is this Alfred House. And I always forgot to search until I started reading "Colombo" by Mohan Raj Madawala. As you all know I'm a bookworm and once I get my hands on a book I stop everything and start reading it. So while I was reading suddenly Alfred House popped up. I was like.. wait. Is this the same Alfred House we are talking about? So I immediately googled Alfred House... and boy there it is. So I was reading a book about Alfred House while I was in a land once belonged to Alfred House? (I read it while in the place I used to stay at Colombo 03) It felt so crazy to think about it at that moment. About 150 years ago it was the Alfred House garden. I started imagining flowers, fountains, gardeners working in the garden etc.. And all of a sudden I wanted to know
