How to get foreign ministry certified documents?

Seal, Certified Seal, Certified, Symbol, Stamp

If you are going abroad you will need to get your documents such as birth certificates and educational certificates foreign ministry certified. It's a very long process and it's gonna be very hectic and depressing as well. First of all what is a foreign ministry certified document? They check your original documents and gives you another document with a QR code that says your document is an original and anybody can check it using the QR code. You can take any number of photocopies of the document and those are valid for a year.

To where should you go to get them certified?

The branch where they certify documents is in the 3rd floor of the Ceylinco Building which is in the opposite side of the World Trade Center. And you have to go there as early as possible because there is gonna be a loooooooong que. They issue a token and it's very important not to lose it as they will check that before taking you in. And make sure to go early as possible too because if you go there by 7.15 your number will be around 220 and if you go by 6.15 it will be around 90. They only issue numbers unto 400s. So you get my point. Go there at 6am if possible. And after standing in a loooong que for about 4 hours finally they will take you in. At the first counter your documents are checked and another token is issued. You will be asked to sit in a waiting area and go to another counter based on your second token number. You will have to pay 800 rupees per document.

Birth Certificate

You will need to provide them with an original copy of your birth certificate that is taken recently and an English translated copy. You can get copies of the birth certificate from the office at the ground floor of the passport office in Baththaramulla and get them translated at the Registrar General Department. (They take 7 days for the translation and will cost 600 rupees per copy)

Degree certificate and transcript

You will first have to get photocopies of the two and get them true copied by the University and take them with the originals.

O/L and A/L certificates

First you have to request the certificates through https://certificate.doenets.lk website and in there you have an option to send the certificates to the foreign ministry. You have to click that option because unless the Department of Examinations directly send them the certificates, foreign ministry will not certify them.

How to survive A/Ls in 3 months...

Today is the first of May and there are exactly three months until GCE A/L exams begin. I intend to help people who has realized this and started panicking and feeling lost, but not only A/L students but also any student with any upcoming exam can use these tips to ace your exam. I will first explain why most of us usually wait until the day before deadline to do stuff. It's explained by Parkinson's law which states that " Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". What it means is, if we are given a week to finish a task we will finish it within the week and if we are given an year to finish the same task we will spend the whole year doing it. Well that's how usually us, lazy humans work. Now that you know what happened there is no time to regret about how we procrastinated on unnecessary things etc. Now it's time to damage control. I will not gurantee you will get 3As by following these. (It's possible depending on
