Elephants cows and hens

Lately the death (actually a murder) of the famous tusker " Dalaputtuwa" was the hot topic on media. On social media there were two major groups of people arguing about the death on 2 different perspectives. First group was the people who comment about the death ( The killers should be hanged to death ..!!!) while tasting kfc chicken. The second group are vegetarians and people who are constantly  talking about animal rights. Let me remind you first about the country and people who are living here.. Last year the credit card machine of a famous supermarket was not working and there was a man who was blaming the president of the country for it... What can he do about that? People are really stupid and they only see what they have in front of their eyes (Some people don't even see that). Nowadays buying a phone with an internet connection is not a big deal,so every simon and john transforms their thoughts into words and type those on social media. With that it mind lets go deep into this topic.

The tuskers' tusks were unique and indubitably the death was a great loss to the country, what I can't stand is people are pretending to be smart here without seeing the fact in front of their eyes. Second group of peoples point is that we should respect the right to live, yes it includes you, me and all the other animals. Not only elephants and tuskers. In my eyes all are equals. No matter whether it's a person or not I respect everyone's right to live. Most people don't give a thought about killing a mosquito right? When they feel that they are bitten by a mosquito hand goes automatically to kill them like it's nothing. Like all the other animals even mosquito has a role in aquatic ecology. Mosquito larvae is the food for small insects and small fish. Like I always say, being intelligent doesn't mean we can destroy all the other species. We all share a one world and even the smallest animal has a role in the web of life. Break a one strand and you destroy the whole system.

Since it is possible for simons and johns to argue about bacterias and viruses I'm going to give you a biology lesson here. If you are not a simon or a john please skip this para and move on to the next one.  To be able to call a life there are 7 factors to fulfill. Organization, Metabolism,Homeostasis,Growth, Reproduction, Response and Evolution. I'm not going to explain those here since this is not a post about what life is. Yes it is a frame made by human beings I know it. If we can't stop it completely at least we should try to minimize it, isn't that correct? So don't bring lame arguments and try to be a simon or a john.

It is true that we should protect rare species, but in the mean time we should also keep in our minds that, if we all respect each other such terrible crimes will not happen. what the first group saying is a sub category of the 2nd peoples ideas. I don't know why the first ones are mocking second ones by statements like some people see elephants as hens. ( My personal idea is if you are a cow you shouldn't open your mouth.. Unless you open your mouth nobody knows you are a cow.Oh wait..Am I insulting cows here?) As I mentioned in Facebook fishmongers people are so materialistic nowadays and they will sell their soul to Satan just to get more money. It is obvious that people kill animals (Which they consider as nobody) to get ivory or some other valuables ( which I don't consider valuable).

I myself am a person who stood on B217 road in the middle of night wearing shorts and with a torch in my hand just to extend a dogs life for an hour. It was dying anyway and I could have cuddle my cat and sleep peacefully while a vehicle crush him into pieces... I lost my kitten from an accident on the same spot and it was clear that he was alive for sometime until a second car crushed him into pieces.( It was the incident which made me a vegetarian in 2014) You must loose someone to know the pain and how valuable a life is. When you know it, you will never hurt another living soul.

In some countries ecologists do several calculations and conclude that some animals are over populated and a part of the population should be killed. My question is who are we to decide that? It's not them who are over populated...It's us.. When human population is increasing we destroy their forests and living habitats and conclude they are over populated?? If something is overpopulated nature itself has a plan for it and we shouldn't tamper with it. Do we kill humans coz we are overpopulated? No.. we don't. My kind request to all of you is, please think about it and try to respect the right of animals to live. We are blessed to have a world full of blue and green and lets not spoil it with our greed.

How to survive A/Ls in 3 months...

Today is the first of May and there are exactly three months until GCE A/L exams begin. I intend to help people who has realized this and started panicking and feeling lost, but not only A/L students but also any student with any upcoming exam can use these tips to ace your exam. I will first explain why most of us usually wait until the day before deadline to do stuff. It's explained by Parkinson's law which states that " Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". What it means is, if we are given a week to finish a task we will finish it within the week and if we are given an year to finish the same task we will spend the whole year doing it. Well that's how usually us, lazy humans work. Now that you know what happened there is no time to regret about how we procrastinated on unnecessary things etc. Now it's time to damage control. I will not gurantee you will get 3As by following these. (It's possible depending on

Good books for students studying for GCE A/L examination...

As we all know A/Ls is a very tough exam and you will not be able to finish it successfully by just studying. It needs practice, timing and all.So the best way to do it is do exercises and improve knowledge,i did A/Ls in physical science stream and in sinhala medium,so based on my experience i will recommend anyone to use following books. There may be books better than following list, but books below were used by me.
