Debt bondage in India..

A new Indian tele-drama is telecasting on a local TV channel and  I watched two episodes.I was shocked to see how people in India really live. (I'm not talking about how their movies try to show us they live; BMW and Benz cars, houses like palaces, hundreds of servants)I've heard that most of the people in India are poor and uneducated, but never thought it's this much pathetic.I've heard about bonded labour in India before but never took it seriously.

Bonded labour or modern day slavery (as described by UN) is prohibited by international law.It is specifically dealt with by article 1(a) of the United Nations 1956 supplementary convention on the abolition of slavery .But even today it happens in India.India has one of the highest rates of slavery in the world.

A one rich guy has hundreds of people (slaves) working for him.He has money and political power. These people are brutally punished for even a very small mistake. In the drama I watched one person was whipped coz he accidentally stepped on 4 mulberry leaves, just 4.Most people are starving, has no land. They practically own nothing. From generation to generation they inherit slavery.

There are two ways to stop this.First one is to organize everyone and stop working at once. This is not practical coz the rich person always has political power and he will easily stop it using police or his private thugs.Second way is to educate their children. In my country education is completely free.So most students end up doing Phds. But India is not a country with free education. For somewhere people who don't have money to eat, education is just a dream. And of course the rich guy will not let anybody go to school.

As per my knowledge Indians do not consider education as a big deal, especially for girls. In some states of India,it's a shame for people to say that their daughter is an educated one.I'm not saying every Indian is like that. There are so many great Indian scientists. But this is what happens in remote rural areas in India.

In my opinion only the government in India can stop it.Government consists of politicians.Usually politicians are  friends of these rich people and in some cases these rich guys are politicians.I don't know when this bonded labour will come to an end.But it's just horrible. As a non Indian I can only wish that they will get their freedom oneday!!!

How to survive A/Ls in 3 months...

Today is the first of May and there are exactly three months until GCE A/L exams begin. I intend to help people who has realized this and started panicking and feeling lost, but not only A/L students but also any student with any upcoming exam can use these tips to ace your exam. I will first explain why most of us usually wait until the day before deadline to do stuff. It's explained by Parkinson's law which states that " Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". What it means is, if we are given a week to finish a task we will finish it within the week and if we are given an year to finish the same task we will spend the whole year doing it. Well that's how usually us, lazy humans work. Now that you know what happened there is no time to regret about how we procrastinated on unnecessary things etc. Now it's time to damage control. I will not gurantee you will get 3As by following these. (It's possible depending on

Good books for students studying for GCE A/L examination...
