Bullying in universities aka ragging...

Well this is not something I personally like to speak about, but something made me interested in this topic, which will be in the below image. I was shocked to see that.

First search result was " Ragging in Sri Lanka". One doesn't has to be an Einstein to understand that they are adding black marks to their country and their universities, right? and I discovered something interesting while digging facts through internet. Did you know that ragging is a direct result of the "British Colonialism" ? As wikipedia says,

" In the post World War II era, a concept called ragging came into existence. Soldiers returning from war re-entered the college and brought with them the technique of ragging learned in military camp. These techniques were used to make individuals fail as an individual, but succeed as a team. Eventually, when less military persons entered the universities, ragging lost its primary objective and became a violent and hazardous exercise."

I mean it's wow right? They started it during second world war and still people do it. I'm not even sure if the people who are doing those barbarian things know this fact..I heard that in some universities there are inhumane ragging.. My sister who went to a university which is really famous for ragging told me a fact worth sharing with you guys.. She said "Sissy, if someone rags you oneday make sure to look at them, and dig some info about them and you'll wonder that they have one thing in common. It's that they are lacking from something. Maybe his/her face is ugly, maybe he/she has some physical disabilities,or they are low on grades or maybe their family background is not good. So don't hate them for ragging you..Just pity them for what they are."So since that day everytime I see someone bullying another I just look at them...If they have no probs with appearance then I guess it's something about their family background and feel sorry for them and I say to myself, poor fellow.. I should feel sorry for him.

Actually even though I think like that and forget it,it's a huge problem.. Many people will try to make it look fair to rag newcomers, but personally I hate it.. I just hate any kind of evil acts..especially if it's someone new.. I mean if I don't know a person how am i suppose to predict what will be his/her reaction towards my acts? Many people just will bear it and let it go..but there might be people suffering from different mental health issues..for an example if it's a person with suicidal tendency, what will happen if he or she jumps off a roof? I,myself will die for sure... I won't be able to bear it that I killed a person with my words and it's blood in my hands..It's just me who is responsible for a death of an innocent person. If I'm lucky enough then I won't be able to go to jail for killing a person. Is that the reason I worked hard for A/Ls? Enter university, spend a couple of years and leave as a murderer? What would happen to my parents..society will point finger at them for making a murderer... It's just a one possibility.. There are tons of other possibilities.. Just for that one reason I'll never ever even think about ragging.

What's more important is why people are doing this..There is a famous saying that "People who cannot make themselves look good have only one other option...make others look bad."

So basically what they do is make your self confidence and self esteem low and make you feel small..unimportant and emphasize the importance of working as a team.. Working as a team is good, but if the team is made of people who can't believe in themselves and their strengths what kind of a team will it be?

One of the most famous part of ragging among each and every university is introducing ourelves to the batchmates and remembering each and every little information others say..It's good to know each other, but to remember terabytes of data within a couple of seconds? The most important thing in this is, they are making another set of students to carryout this operation next year..Now you may wondering how is that.. In a university there are people from different areas of the country and people who belongs to different levels in society. It's not a problem for a person to stand up and  say Hey my dad is a doctor/engineer in public, but there might be parents who are laborers or maybe people who are doing worse jobs than that...When he or she gets her chance to say My dad is a ........  in front of many people couple hundred times a day, eventually she or he's dragged out of their comfort zones and will be lacking of self esteem day by day..So in the end another set of wrecked people is produced.

There are very inhumane ragging in some universities and I wonder sometimes how come people with this kind of mindsets entered to universities..So I suggest to carry out a physiological test for the people who have been selected to unis and remove these ill minded people who are adding blackmarks to our country..There are antirag acts in some other countries..even in India..which basically means if you hurt someone then they'll kick you out..

Some people try to justify ragging by saying it's just the university sub culture and it cannot be changed. So I would like to ask just a couple of questions.. So was this so called holy subculture was on this earth even before the life on earth started? Is that something which is not man made and is that the reason why it's impossible to change it? Comment below if you know the answers.. So, I'll stop by here for now..Have a nice vacation people..!!!

How to survive A/Ls in 3 months...

Today is the first of May and there are exactly three months until GCE A/L exams begin. I intend to help people who has realized this and started panicking and feeling lost, but not only A/L students but also any student with any upcoming exam can use these tips to ace your exam. I will first explain why most of us usually wait until the day before deadline to do stuff. It's explained by Parkinson's law which states that " Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". What it means is, if we are given a week to finish a task we will finish it within the week and if we are given an year to finish the same task we will spend the whole year doing it. Well that's how usually us, lazy humans work. Now that you know what happened there is no time to regret about how we procrastinated on unnecessary things etc. Now it's time to damage control. I will not gurantee you will get 3As by following these. (It's possible depending on
