History of roses



Let me tell you a brief history of roses first.About 5000 years ago Asians started growing roses for medical purposes,but after a while roses became very popular because of its beauty and fragrance.Journey of the roses begun from Asia and finally it reached Europe with the myths and traditions associated with roses.After 10 years of that Egyptians started using roses to decorate their tombs.
After the 17th century the historical rose evolution happened in England.It started with making a hybrid rose using red and white roses.after the rose evolution people started making roses of every colour.green roses were made in 1800s and yellow and orange roses were made in 1900s.When the colours of roses started expanding a language of roses invented,It's a language which can express love,anger,sadness,hatred,happiness and a lot more emotions.So what are we waiting for,Lets learn the LANGUAGE OF ROSES.

Meanings of the roses by colour

  • pink rose -showing gratitude and appreciation
  • pale pink rose- kindness (this can be given by an adult to someone younger)
  • light pink rose-to show happiness
  • deep pink rose-to say thank you very much
  • red rose-to express love
  • white rose-peace and purity
  • yellow rose-friendship
  • orange rose-happiness
  • green rose-prosperity
  • black rose-destruction
  • blue rose-mystery
  • lavender rose and purple rose-royalty
  • Mixed roses-you can mix roses to give various messages.as an example if you give someone white roses and red roses that means I love you and my love is honest.

  • one rose with 2 rose buds is used to send secret messages.
  • Red rose buds is used to show teenage love
  • white rose buds means a girl is asking for more time to get married or showing that she's not ready to get married yet

As we all know A/Ls is a very tough exam and you will not be able to finish it successfully by just studying.It needs practice,timing and all.So the best way to do it is do exercises and improve knowledge,i did A/Ls in physical science stream and in sinhala medium,so based on my experience i will recommend anyone to use following books.There may be books better than following list,but books below were used by me.
