How to finish papers quickly...

                                        Superhero, Girl, Speed, Runner, Running

Todays topic was requested by one of my readers and I hope this will help many of you guys and thank you for suggesting this topic! As I mentioned before in one of my previous posts, I used to finish exams very quickly and in A/Ls chemistry paper I even did an extra essay question (both of physical chemistry questions + organic chemistry). Now how do I do that? It's through practice. There are certain skills that you need to have to be able to finish quickly and give correct answers quickly at the same time.

In an exam people waste most of their valuable time by thinking which questions to do. By the time you figure out which questions you are gonna answer, you have already spent more than 10 minutes. First thing is to avoid that. Especially in exams like A/Ls you know what are the essays that are going to be there. So pick your questions at home! not during the exam! For an example in a chemistry paper I always answer organic chemistry question and inorganic chemistry questions. But never the industrial chemistry question no matter how much I know about that topic.(Because there are no precise answers for those questions you are never gonna get full marks) So pick certain areas you are good at and master them! So during the exam you will not have to wonder whether to do thermodynamics or to do matter and radiation... Now that we know what questions to answer the next step is to speed up the process.

First and the very obvious one is the writing speed. This comes with practice. Whenever you are in classes/ school try to write your notes clearly and as fast as you can at the same time. But answering a question and writing down a note fast are not the same thing right? When you write down something someone is reading you are not using much of your brain power. But when you are writing an answer your brain must think of an answer, logically arrange it and then you make sentences to write them down. It's a much more complex process. This skill again comes through the tip I mentioned in the previous paragraph. When you have mastered a topic and went through all past paper questions you know how to answer this question right in front of you.. You will mechanically form an answer. They might come up with new words and phrases to disguise the same old questions but you will be able to quickly understand what they are asking for and write down the solution. You see, human brain is so good at identifying patterns. When you feed it years of questions, the moment it sees the next one it will automatically come up with the answer. Try this and let me know! It works...

So to make a quick summary, decide the questions at home and master those topics, learn to write faster and practice practice practice! That's the key!

Good books for students studying for GCE A/L examination...

As we all know A/Ls is a very tough exam and you will not be able to finish it successfully by just studying. It needs practice, timing and all.So the best way to do it is do exercises and improve knowledge,i did A/Ls in physical science stream and in sinhala medium,so based on my experience i will recommend anyone to use following books. There may be books better than following list, but books below were used by me. Chemistry almost every book by hemachandra basnayaka Akabanika rasayanaya by Aruna Bandara (there are two books for inorganic chemistry, these books will help you in for the doubts you will have in doing mcqs) Akabanika rasayana pilibanda gunathmaka ha pramanathmaka wishleshanaya by Ranga gunarathna(this also will help you in mcqs) Organic chemistry by jayathilaka(this book is very good and it will help you to understand concepts in organic chemistry better) Physics Prof D.D.N balo dayas' books yanthra vidyawa by lakshaman dissanayaka(questionsin this book  are

How to survive A/Ls in 3 months...

Today is the first of May and there are exactly three months until GCE A/L exams begin. I intend to help people who has realized this and started panicking and feeling lost, but not only A/L students but also any student with any upcoming exam can use these tips to ace your exam. I will first explain why most of us usually wait until the day before deadline to do stuff. It's explained by Parkinson's law which states that " Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". What it means is, if we are given a week to finish a task we will finish it within the week and if we are given an year to finish the same task we will spend the whole year doing it. Well that's how usually us, lazy humans work. Now that you know what happened there is no time to regret about how we procrastinated on unnecessary things etc. Now it's time to damage control. I will not gurantee you will get 3As by following these. (It's possible depending on
