Horrific memories of a war...

I watched a movie today;Black Hawk Down and it reminded me how my life was 6 years ago. It's not just another bad dream.Wars provide writers, artists and film producers, good plots for their new book, poem or movie, and we enjoy their creations, criticize them. But a real war is no fun.Just destruction. It's not like what you see in newspapers or TV news. When you watch a movie, you think "oh this is really so bad, people should stop fighting always",but after a few days can you even remember you watched such a thing? No.Why?We see many wars in many countries nowadays. It has become a part of our lives to see a bomb blast in a some far away country.Have you ever been a victim of a war?Have you ever lived in a country which has a war?I was. There was a war in my country.

But like you people I didn't care until 2007.I was a little girl back then,I also saw wars from newspapers,TV news and even watched movies about wars.I knew there was a war in my country, but I didn't care coz it was in north and east and I lived in west. When people in North and East were struggling to save their lives here I am,joyfully learning, playing with my friends and enjoying with my family. But it was not for a long time.
Terrorists in North and East cut down water supplies to paddy fields and people in those areas started dying of starvation. That was the time to take action.30 years of pushing and pulling came to an end.President at that time decided to end this, and rescue people in those areas. He decided to start the battle, but this time for real and till it comes to an end.

I accidentally got a magazine when I was waiting near the school gate and it was all about the mission in east and they had won it.Our army had taken the water supplies into their hands. And the real war began.Terrorists who were disguised as civilians in  the other parts of the country started attacking us,normal people. They introduced human bombs for the 1st time in the world, brain washed soldiers with bombs all over their bodies. They attacked Buses, trains, railway stations and almost anywhere where there was a crowd.Sometimes they disguised like pregnant women, sometime they simply put bombs in a bag and left it in buses. There were countless bomb blasts everyday.Thousands of innocent people died.People were horrified, practically people could't go home and shut the door. They had a job to do,earn for their families.Children had to go to school and learn. So we had to face it,not knowing we'll be dead or alive after a moment.

In 2006 I won a scholarship and had the chance to get selected to the best school in the country,So where was it?In Colombo, the major target of terrorists, and the heart of my country, our capital.I had to go there daily while others did their maximum to stay away from Colombo. Many students and employees working for the companies in Colombo died every day.Parents started guarding schools to prevent disguised terrorists from entering to schools. We were trained to react to warning alarms, and at least once a day there were rehearsals.People started looking at each other in suspicion, coz the person next to me can be a terrorist.

In 2009 we start winning the war,and the disguised terrorists in our territory started killing people like they are getting mad.And finally the day came.I was in school and it was our English period.A news alert came to my teachers mobile. We won!!!Finally it's over.We celebrated it,together,Sinhalese Tamils and Muslims. The world may see us like barbarians, even though they were our enemy they were still human beings. But only a victim of a war can understand that feeling of freedom, that we can go anywhere without a fear of getting killed is unexplainable.

A one mans' selfish desire made a burden to our country for 30 years. We couldn't develop as a nation.Thousands of innocent people died. What for?Why couldn't all the  people live in peace and harmony 30 years ago like we do now?Why couldn't he understand that a gun and bullets are not answers for his problem.

Many soldiers died from both sides. Some people loose their father, lover, son, husband coz they died to give us freedom.Even now when I see a widow of a dead soldier,or children of a dead soldier  I feel guilty.Coz of me,coz of us,she's crying alone. She lost her fathers love coz of me.To protect us her father died.Today we are breathing freely on this land coz they shed their blood for us.I owe from my life for them and for the president at that time, for saving us,and giving us a chance to feel the freedom. For making my country the wonder of Asia within 5 years after the war.

Recently from the name of justice, some powerful countries are accusing us for killing Tamil people in North and  East and violating their human rights.Government and the people in those areas assure that our army didn't kill any civilian, god knows what they are up to.But finally i would like to ask one question from them. What about the Sinhalese,Tamil and Muslim people died from Bus bombs, train bombs and Human bombs in our areas?Don't they have human rights? Are they aliens then?

A war is only another name for destruction. It must come to an end. It's time to start a new era with peaceful nations around the world.SHARE THIS if you agree.

How to survive A/Ls in 3 months...

Today is the first of May and there are exactly three months until GCE A/L exams begin. I intend to help people who has realized this and started panicking and feeling lost, but not only A/L students but also any student with any upcoming exam can use these tips to ace your exam. I will first explain why most of us usually wait until the day before deadline to do stuff. It's explained by Parkinson's law which states that " Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". What it means is, if we are given a week to finish a task we will finish it within the week and if we are given an year to finish the same task we will spend the whole year doing it. Well that's how usually us, lazy humans work. Now that you know what happened there is no time to regret about how we procrastinated on unnecessary things etc. Now it's time to damage control. I will not gurantee you will get 3As by following these. (It's possible depending on

Good books for students studying for GCE A/L examination...

As we all know A/Ls is a very tough exam and you will not be able to finish it successfully by just studying. It needs practice, timing and all.So the best way to do it is do exercises and improve knowledge,i did A/Ls in physical science stream and in sinhala medium,so based on my experience i will recommend anyone to use following books. There may be books better than following list, but books below were used by me.
