Think global-Act local..

Today when I was watching news on TV I saw that food waste in UK has became a major issue and it gave me a topic to talk about..!! Did you know that one third of all the food produced globally end up as food waste? That means 1.3 billion tons of food worth nearly 1 trillion US dollars end up in waste bins. The energy goes to produce, harvest, transport produces more than 3.3 billions tons of  carbon dioxide. While millions of people die from starvation we waste 1.3 billion tons of food. Can you even believe that?

I've never been to UK,but someone from UK told me that people usually don't like to eat leftovers for another meal.(If anyone from UK reading this, correct me if I'm wrong please) So it's like this. There are two people in a family and they buy a huge cake. These two people eat this (possibly they can't eat the whole cake) as much as they can and then throw it away.If there are leftovers then there are 3 options.
  • Over-eat
  • Save for another meal
  • Throw away
I saw another article on the same topic and most people who commented there had this idea.If there are any leftovers why should we eat it?Our leftovers won't magically go to any starving kid in Africa. So why should we overeat and become fat?So here is my answer. It's not about how much you eat. It's about the portion size.If there are only 2 people you should cook only for 2.Why do you cook for 5 people and worry about leftovers? From that way you will save your money and you will produce less food waste.

Chinese people usually have only the amount of food they can eat in their plates and they clean their plates. They never waste food. That's how they have become one of the powerful countries in the world. There are few solutions to this huge problem.First is that to change peoples attitudes,to educate them on the portion size and producing less food waste.Food processing companies can introduce their products in various portion sizes such as canned food for two people etc. Even though people follow above two then also there will be food waste and it can be used to produce bio gas and compost.Let's make our world a better place for everyone!!!

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

  1. Yeah this is a tragedy. :(
I once watched a documentary about food wastage and it's nearly gave me a heart attack..
It said that people often confuse the product's "expiry date" with "best before" date and it's also another reason for this "food wastage"..

How to survive A/Ls in 3 months...

Today is the first of May and there are exactly three months until GCE A/L exams begin. I intend to help people who has realized this and started panicking and feeling lost, but not only A/L students but also any student with any upcoming exam can use these tips to ace your exam. I will first explain why most of us usually wait until the day before deadline to do stuff. It's explained by Parkinson's law which states that " Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". What it means is, if we are given a week to finish a task we will finish it within the week and if we are given an year to finish the same task we will spend the whole year doing it. Well that's how usually us, lazy humans work. Now that you know what happened there is no time to regret about how we procrastinated on unnecessary things etc. Now it's time to damage control. I will not gurantee you will get 3As by following these. (It's possible depending on
