Maybe you are a sweet lover,or you are a tourist fell in love with Watalappan.(Most of the tourists visiting Sri lanka end up falling in love with this dessert).Watalappan is also called
coconut custard pudding in most of the food websites. But
coconut milk is not necessary to make watalappan.I
never use coconut milk,I use normal milk we drink daily. So today I'm going to teach you how to make watalappan,
step by step.
What you'll need..
500g Jaggery
8 Eggs
3 or 4 Cardamoms crused
1/2 tsp nutmeg (this is
not compulsory,so if you are unable to find it don't worry,it's just a taste enhancer)
1/2 cup of milk
Cashews (
not compulsory)
Step 1
grate Jaggery
Step 2
Add eggs one by one while mixing with grated jaggery.
Step 3
Add cardamoms and mace and mix well again.
Step 4
Add half a cup of milk. You can add 1 cup of milk if you want to reduce the sweetness.Add some cashews also,if you prefer.
Step 5
Put the mix in a preheated oven(180C) for about 20 minutes.Actually there is no exact time limit. You just have to bake it till you get the colour and texture in following pictures. So if you feel that the time and heat is not enough then you can adjust it.For people who
do not have an oven, you can use a
steamer..
So enjoy this authentic Sri Lankan dessert and give me your ideas...
wonderful recepies and a spooky story entertaining Thank You
